    The global climate finance gap will be hard to fill unless we can both grow public finance and international carbon markets and leverage the funding, they provide more effectively to mobilize private sector finance.  In a recently accepted paper in npj Climate Action Xian Hu from Tsinghua University and I create a model to explore different ways we could succeed and underscore the importance of holistic transition plans and mechanisms that combine strong incentives for effective implementation and public, private, and market support.
